How to Verify Your YouTube Account To Get Special Features

Do you know that when you first start your YouTube channel, you need to get verified in order to get some special features?

Using a verified YouTube will give you access to use some special features such as being able to upload custom thumbnails and being able to do longer than 15-minute videos.

Plus, you’ll also be able to go live on YouTube on a computer with a verified Youtube account.

NOTE: You can’t go live on YouTube on a phone until you have over 1,000 subscribers

Let’s dive in and let me show you how to do this, step-by-step.

Here are the steps involved in verifying your YouTube account.

Go to YouTube studio when you click on your profile in the top right-hand corner of the YouTube homepage.

When you’re in Youtube Studio, scroll down to the ‘settings’ tab by the options on the left-hand side. When you click on ‘settings’ on the left-hand side, go to the ‘channel’ tab and click on the ‘feature eligibility’ option.

At the bottom, click on the link that says ‘status and features’. You’ll be directed to a new page upon clicking the link.

On the page that comes on, you’ll see a blue box with ’verify’ written on it. Click on the verify button to verify your Youtube account and get access to all the goodies and special features that come with having a verified YouTube account.

Remember, you’ll get access to special features only with a verified Youtube account which includes:

• Ability to use custom thumbnails
• Upload videos longer than 15 minutes
• Use live streaming on a computer
• Add some external annotations
• And more

There’s another way to verify your account on Youtube.

Just type youtube.com/features in the address bar of your computer and hit the enter button. This link will take you to the same verification page.

NOTE: You must be logged into your Youtube account to use this method.

On the verification page, just click on the verify button and then enter your phone number. You’ll be sent a text containing a code to the same number you entered.

When you receive the code, type it into the from your phone into the box requesting the code.

This process is safe and it’s for privacy purposes. Essentially, YouTube just needs to make sure that you’re a real person and you’re the one that wants to verify your Youtube account.

Alternatively, you can choose to do a call with an automated voice message. Instead of a text, they’ll call you via the phone number that you entered and read the code to you.

However, the text method is actually faster and recommended use.

When you get the code, enter it into the box, and that’s it. You’ve gotten your Youtube account verified.

You’re good to go and enjoy the special features.
